Cortejos to face unbeaten Fitzgerald for Australian light title

JHON Cortejos of Manila will face undefeated Tommy Fitzgerald of Australia for the Australian lightweight title on August 23 at The Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington, Australia.

The 31-year-old Cortejos [4-3-1, 1KO], who now lives in Sale, Victoria, recently lost to Brandon Scerri by a unanimous decision last April 12, 2025 in Flemington.

Cortejos settled a split draw with Sittidet Phanaensa of Thailand last December 2024 in Traralgon.

He trains with Coach Braden Anderson at the

South Eastern Fight Fitness Gym in Sale, Victoria.

Cortejos was born in Surigao del Norte before he grew up in Manila,

Fitzgerald, on the other hand, recently won the title by stopping Daniel Huculak in the 8th round last August 24, 2024 in Flemington.

The 27-year-old Fitzgerald has seven straight wins with four knockouts.

Jake Ellis of Team Ellis Boxing is the promoter.
