Jino Rodrigo (2nd from left).
Globe trotting Filipino super lightweight fighter Jino Rodrigo continues his barnstorming of the US as he takes on an undefeated American former amateur standout in the main event of a fight card dubbed as "A Night of Boxing in Sta Ynez, California".
Set at the Chumash Casino on October 3, 2025, Rodrigo will battle against the up and coming Cain Sandoval who has over a hundred amateur fights and has won all sixteen of his bouts, 14 by KO since turning pro in 2021.
Sandoval is fresh from a three fight knockout streak, including back to back against Filipino campaigners Romero Duno and Mark Bernaldez capping an auspicious 2024 where the 22-year-old Sacramento born fighter also won his biggest pro fight yet against former US Olympian Javier Molina on points.
Rodrigo already has five losses in 20 total bouts, with 13 wins and 2 draws. Three of those losses came abroad against rated foes including Elvis Rodriguez and Kuntae Lee in Tokyo.
Rodrigo will be coming off a points loss to Ruslan Abullayev in the undercards of the Gabriela Fundora versus Marilyn Badillo triple world title bout headliner in Oceanside, California.
The boxing card is promoted by Bebot Elorde who also handles Rodrigo.
Rodrigo is aiming not only to break his losing streak in the US but also to avenge the defeats of his kababayans, Duno and Bernaldez.
That will be a tall order against Sandoval who is rated top ten super lightweight in the US and top twenty in the world and is being trained by the famous Freddie Roach.
