Happy Birthday, dear Gerry Peñalosa! Here's to an unforgettable blessed day filled with love, joy, and celebration!
May your beautiful family, lovely wife, and dear children surround you with affection today and ALWAYS!
Your remarkable career, marked by glorious victories and thrilling matches, brought immense pride to our beloved Land.
As a 2-division world champion, Gerry left an indelible mark on our sport of boxing.
Old fans like me remember all so well Gerry’s wins.
Gerry Peñalosa Notable Achievements:
WBC Super Flyweight World Champion (February 1997 - August 1998): Gerry captured the green ‘n golden belt with a remarkable hard-fought win over tough Japanee Hiroshi Kawashima via split decision.
WBO Bantamweight World Champion (August 2007 - April 2009): Gerry’s victory over big and excellent Mexican champion Jhonny González in the 7th round will forever be in my memory, and in the memory of so many boxing fans.
Young boxers may watch Peñalosa stopping Gonzalez on YouTube to check Gerry’s technique on how to land a perfect body shot knockout punch. Beautiful!!
Wonderful Technical Boxing Skills!!
Gerry Peñalosa will always be regarded as one of the best technical boxers from the Philippines, known for his fantastic footwork, “fearless“ heart of a lion, beautiful attacks, and superb defensive skills.
His 55 wins in 65 rough battles against the very best of his time in a 21 year long career was a most wonderful gift to all Pinoy boxing fans, and I was fortunate to attend and enjoy some.
Truly, I feel most lucky to attend Gerry Peñalosa’s last and final fight many years ago in Zamboanga. Gerry won by with a body attack and fans in attendance in that gym gave thanks to him for a long, great and awesome boxing career.
Thanks for the Glory to Our Nation.
Thank you for the glory and joy your victories brought to our nation, "Fearless" Gerry Peñalosa. Old fans (such as me) do not forget!!
From our hearts, Philboxing, Dong and me wish you many more years of love, happiness, and inspiration. Happy Birthday, hermano!!!
