Landon John Patricio, Salim Ellis-Bey, Lorenzo Juanito Patricio and Jose Vasquez Capture Wins on Day Four
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (June 19, 2025) – The USA Boxing Youth High Performance Team steamrolls its opponents on day four at the 53rd annual USA Boxing National Junior Olympics and Summer Festival, as all four representatives secured a unanimous decision or RSC victory. Lorenzo Patricio (male, 50 kg), Landon Patricio (male, 55 kg), Salim Ellis-Bey (male, 60 kg), and Jose Vasquez (male, 70 kg) will look to carry their momentum into Friday as all four boxers will now compete in the semifinals on the penultimate day of the tournament.
Landon Patricio led off for Team USA on Thursday and earned a dominant 5-0 victory over Aaron Saenz. Patricio was able to capitalize on his jabs and land multiple blows to Saenz's body. Team USA's 55kg representative will now face Saleem Rafaie on Friday.
"I am feeling great, I feel strong, and after I got the standing eight in the first round, I felt confident to earn the win," Landon stated after the win. "From the start, I was trying to see how far he could reach versus how far I could reach so I could throw my jab and get right out of there. After I got that down, it was easy to work from there."
Ellis-Bey continued his dominant run in Las Vegas and secured a RSC in the first round. He landed multiple blows to Utah's Saul Gamino's body and various hooks to the head, causing the ref to stop the bout just minutes into the first round.
Vasquez earned his second unanimous decision victory of the tournament, as the Dallas, Texas, native overpowered Julian Hernandez. Vasquez took control of the bout immediately, earning him multiple 30-25 scorecards and a 30-23 scorecard.
Rounding out the day for the Stars and Stripes was Lorenzo Patricio. The Waianae, Hawaii, native made his presence known in the ring immediately and secured a first-round RSC victory. Patricio recently made the jump up to the elite division but will still represent Team USA Youth High Performance Team in Germany next month for the Brandenburg Cup.
"All I thought was what Coach Font says, 'not everybody belongs three rounds with you,' and my power, my speed, my explosiveness all led me to dominate."
Team USA will see all four boxers compete tomorrow afternoon, including Angel Blancarte (male, 85kg) and Alexis Tangaro (female, 54kg).
