CEBU, Philippines — As expected and hoped for by so many fans here in the Philippines and around the world, Nonito Donaire is once again a world champion!!
Donaire has claimed the interim WBA 118-lbs title with a technical unanimous decision win over the relatively unknown Andres Campos of Chile today in the Land of Messi, Argentina!
The fight was stopped due to a severe cut from a head clash, but Donaire's dominance was clear as shown in the official scorecards of 87-84 (twice) and 88-83.

“The Filipino Flash” can be called a “World Champion” again!!
This triumph adds even more to his legacy.
Nonito’s win also showcases Filipino power in boxing! Can Christian Araneta win too on Thursday in Tokyo; and then a big win from King Pacquiao on July 19 in Vegas?
Well find out.
But today, the celebration and the victory belongs to Nonito.
Fans in Argentina loved and cheered for him. It was really another exciting display of skills and guts from the pogi Boholano warrior.
Nonito has once again proven to all of us why he's a legend in the sport of boxing.
Donaire's victory sets the stage for more thrilling clashes. Syempre, he needs to heal his eye and take a well-deserved rest.

With this win, Donaire becomes the most likely opponent to the winner of the upcoming fight between Mexican-American WBA Bantamweight (Regular) World Champion Antonio Vargas and former champion Daigo Higa (21-3-2, 19 KOs).
Vargas vs Higa is promoted by Akihiko Honda on July 30 in Yokohama.
In boxing, we never know, but it's possible Donaire could face the winner of that fight.
If Higa dethrones Vargas, Nonito might return to fight in Japan, where he is highly loved and respected as well. Japanese fans will never forget the two thrilling rumble of Nonito against Naoya Inoue. Do you remember those fights? Awesome, especially the first one, which won “Fight of the Year Award” in 2019.
As a 4-division king and future Hall of Famer, Donaire's career continues to thrill and inspire fans in the Philippines and worldwide. 🇵🇭 🌎👍 🥊
Thank you Nonito, Well done, Congratulations!!
