Manila---Rodlin John "RJ" Bautista is set to compete in the 34th annual Andy Mercer 9 Ball Classic on March 21 to 23, 2025 at Rum Runner Lounge in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

"I hope to do well in this event," said the University of Santo Tomas Business Management graduate Bautista, playing under the banner of world renowned billiard coach Ramon "Maestro Monching" Mistica.

The Quezon City resident Bautista, a quarterfinalist in the 2017 World University Olympic Games 9-Ball Pool Championship in Taipei, Taiwan is aiming to follow the footstep of his idol Efren "Bata" Reyes, who won the 1999 WPA World 9-Ball Championship in Cardiff, Wales and the 2004 WPA World 8-Ball Championship in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.

"I want to follow the footstep of my idol Efren 'Bata' Reyes," added Bautista, whose local and international billiard campaign are being supported by world renowned billiard coach Ramon "Maestro Monching" Mistica, TV actor Niño Muhlach, Richard Hinahon of Chicago and Jimmy Astorga of Las Vegas.

Victor Cucuzza, Josh Kondo, Kings Santy are seeing action along with Josh Smith, Oscar Guerrero Jr., Joe Alvarez, Paul Silva, Tinsley Johnson, Joseph Crugnale and Edgar Jackson.

The 30-year-old Bautista captivated the billiard circuit by winning back-to-back the Most Valuable Player award in 2011 and 2012 of the B League, a Collegiate Billiards League.

He also won the Central Billiard Association 9 Ball Tournament last August at the Hard Times Sports Bar in Timog, Quezon City and the Connector Winner Take All 9 Ball Open Tournament last November at the Connector Sports Bar in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

Bautista saw action in the 2024 Joy Heyball Masters (Chinese 8 ball) Grandfinals last March in Beijing, China and the 2024 Hanoi Open 9 ball Pool Championship last October in Hanoi, Vietnam.

He finished 17th over-all in the money-rich Derby City Classic Open Tournament last January 17 to 26, 2025 at Caesars Southern Indiana Casino and Hotel in Elizabeth, Indiana, USA.

He also played in the Bayou State Classic 9-ball last February 4-9, 2025 at New Iberia, Los Angeles, California, USA and currently playing in the US Open 10 ball at the Griffs Bar and Billiards in Las Vegas, Nevada from March 1-5, 2025.-Marlon Bernardino-
