FAELDONIA CHESS TEAM DOMINATES SIBUYAN OPEN TOURNAMENT

National Master and Arena International Master Jasper Faeldonia won the championship crown of the Sibuyan Open Chess Tournament, while Engr. Gary Fetisan Faeldonia remained undefeated to win the title in the All-Sibuyanon Chess Battle.

The two-day tournament was held in Brgy. Pili, San Fernando, Romblon.

This was Jasper's second title this year, following his victory at the 4th Chess Geek Hub FIDE Rated Open Tournament held in Tarlac City in January 2025.

Rounding out the top 10 were Michael Falses of Roxas City, Nephtali Bantang of Corcuera, Romblon, AIM Jerick Faeldonia of Arellano University/Odiongan, Romblon, AIM Ernie Faeldonia of DSWD MIMAROPA/Odiongan, Romblon, Francis Ligon of Lyceum of the Philippines University/Nueva Ecija, Abraham Pontino of Roxas City, Avelino Lumar of Roxas City, Gibson Patinio of Magdiwang, Romblon and MJ Repiso of Cajidiocan, Romblon.

The top female performer was Ayesha Janelle Guanzon of Quezon City.
Meanwhile, in the All-Sibuyanon Chess Battle, which was open only to Sibuyanon players and Romblomanon players working in Sibuyan, Engr. Gary Faeldonia emerged as the overall champion after scoring 6 points, with 5 wins, 2 draws, and zero defeats.

Rounding out the top 10 were Joe Hammer, MJ Repiso, Josh Galindo, Jimson Serrano II, Dante TeaƱo, Lizarondo Oligay, Japeth Federico, Artus Militar and Carlo Rollon.
