BANGKOK, Thailand -- In an impressive display of skill and power, Filipino boxer Jimmy Paypa dropped and stopped Thai warrior Chinathip Thawiphun to claim the ABF Silver Welterweight Title on Saturday, January 25, at The Bazaar Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
Paypa, a former ALA fighter from Danao, Cebu, stalked his taller opponent from the opening bell, landing effective combinations that forced Chinathip to backpedal.
The Filipino boxer's relentless pressure paid off in the second round when he rocked Chinathip with a solid one-punch body shot, forcing the Thai fighter to hear an eight-second count.
Chinathip attempted to recover, but Paypa's barrage of power punches proved too much, leaving the Thai fighter reeling and unable to continue. The referee stopped the contest as Chinathip was unable to come out for more war, declaring Paypa the winner.
"I dedicate my win to the man I will always love as my second father, Don Antonio L. Aldeguer," said Paypa, 31, after his explosive victory.
Jimmy’s quick win can be watched on the YouTube channel of the promoter, Highland Boxing.
Paypa's record now stands at 21-7-1 with 9 KOs.
Jimmy Paypa received crucial corner guidance from head coach Julius Alcos of Davao during his successful title bid in Thailand.
Alcos' expert advice and strategic direction played a key role in Paypa's dominant victory, which tonight earned him the ABF Silver Welterweight Title.
Congratulations Jimmy Paypa. This is another title win for in your 15-year pro boxing career, and Filipino boxing fans cheer for you!
