World Champion Flips The Switch: BRIAN NORMAN JR. TRAINING NORMAN SR. FOR FEBRUARY 15 FIGHT IN ATLANTA

Atlanta, Georgia, January 21, 2025 -- Undefeated twenty-four-year-old World Welterweight Champion Brian Norman, Jr., has been trained by his father, Brian Norman, Sr. since he was seven. They have reversed course and Junior is now training Senior for a February 15 boxing match against Greg Hackett in Atlanta, GA.

A long-time beef between Brian Sr. and Hackett came to a head in November while both were on Coach Malachi’s Tru Media podcast. It got heated when Norman told Hackett, “you were getting paid $400 as an opponent, to basically lose. You lose for a living.”

Shortly thereafter it was decided they would lace’em up and settle it in the ring. The event will be streamed live on BLK Prime PPV.

Norman (17-11, 5 KOs) from Atlanta, and Greg Hackett (3-23) from Philadelphia, PA will settle the score in a six-round light heavyweight bout.

“I’m being trained by a world champion who I trained to become that world champion,” said Brian, Sr. “He has the knowledge that I gave him. Now he gets to see that vision of what he’s saying to me, which is the same I’ve been saying to him. At the same time he can visualize himself through me by how I react to the instructions. At the end of the day, he is helping himself just as much, if not more, than he is helping me.”

So, Junior, are you getting him back for all your dad’s put you through over the years?

“Is it been a wonderful journey so far,” said Brian Norman, Jr. “I see a lot of similarities between me and him, mostly the motivation to self-determination and the want to. It's been a wonderful experience to witness. There has been a couple times when dad was tired and wanted to stop and I’d yell ‘no, two more rounds.’ I must push him, you know? We don't like losing – we are both very competitive and I see it in him all day long.

“I like the way this fight came about and it’s good for boxing,” said Hackett. “There is no animosity here, but I will hate him for the eighteen minutes we are fighting. There are a lot of people that talk, but they don’t want to get in there, but we are going to get in there. Ever since the day it came about, I’ve been training. It’s going to be a good fight. I think he is going to press the issue because he is the bigger guy, but skill-wise, I am the better fighter. I just have to be prepared for whatever he brings to the table and make him pay for his mistakes. I will win the fight, whether it is by knockout or by decision. I will win the fight.”
