IIEE Metro Central scores 24-24 standoff versus IIEE Western Visayas in the 3rd D’ Engineers Cup

The IIEE hosted in-season Chess round 3 results had both Metro Central and Western Visayas tied at 4 match points a-piece keeping them in company of potential top 8 teams that may advance to play-off among the 20 teams competing in the PTC World Engineering Day 3rd D’ Engineers Cup. Metro Central was led by Julian Paul Querubin and NM Marlon Bernardino while the Western Visayas was paced by Ervil Villa on their match up last December 21, 2024 via Lichess where both team score 24points a piece. IIEE Saudi leads all teams with 7 MPs followed by Mindanao, Singapore, Quezon and Metro East, all with 6 MPs and then Metro South and PICE with 4 MPs each. Trailing at 3 MPs are Eastern Central Visayas, IECEP, Southern Laguna, Iloilo, PSME and Metro West.

Meanwhile, in IIEE Golden 3x3 Basketball, the IIEE Northern Batangas Chapter (NBC) emerged as winner among 5 teams who had competed in a single round robin format held last December 21, 2024 at National University Laguna campus. IIEE NBC lost to IIEE BC or Batangas chapter on their first round, 16-17 but won all 3 remaining games versus NCC or Northern Cavite (13-10), NLC or Northern Laguna (12-10) and CLC or Central Laguna (21-15). They will represent the IIEE Southern Luzon Region (SLR) for the inter-Island Luzon Qualifier on September 12, 2025 versus other regional winners of Bicol, Central Luzon, Northern Luzon and Metro Manila Region who will be represented by IIEE Metro West Chapter. SLR Most Valuable player is Val Abueg of NBC while Mythical 3 includes Benedict Justiniani of BC, Joshua Lila of NCC and Gerver Maningas of NLC. The next regional elimination is for Bicol chapters to be held on January 25, 2025 at Iriga City.-Marlon Bernardino -
