Filipino FIDE Master Ivan Travis Cu is ready to face the challenge in his bid to compete in Singapore.
The 15-year old will join the Singapore International Open 2024 Group A division to be held on November 29 to December 5,
2024 at the Resorts World Sentosa Convention Centre, minutes from the FIDE World Championship Singapore 2024 match between World Champion Ding Liren and Challenger Dommaraju Gukesh.
The Singapore International Open 2024 is held in conjunction with the FIDE World Championship 2024.
Group A is designed with a rating floor of 1800.
"The challenge is tough, but I am ready. I want to repay the trust and support of my countrymen and my sponsors, who continue to believe in my ability," said the Grade 10 student of Xavier School in San Juan City.
"That's why I focus on training and I benefit from the opportunities to play abroad," Cu local and International tournament campaigns are being supported by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) headed by its chairman Alejandro "Al" Tengco, Go For Gold, San Juan City mayor Francis Zamora, vice Mayor Atty. Angelo Agcaoili and Xavier School in San Juan City. -Marlon Bernardino-
