AND STILL UNDEFEATED TITO SANCHEZ ENDS SLUGFEST AGAINST THE RUGGED EDWIN PALOMARES WITH EIGHTH-ROUND KNOCKOUT VICTORY
LIVE FROM FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO

INDIO, CALIF. (October 24, 2024) - The last installment of Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN of 2024 ended in absolute fireworks with the Coachella Valley's hometown hero Manuel “Gucci Manny” Flores (19-1, 15 KOs) finishing business at 1:50 in the first round when he faced Sonora, Mexico's Victor Olivo (21-5-1, 9 KOs). The 10-round super bantamweight fight ended with a powerful punch to the body that Olivo was unable to recover from. The event took place live at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and was broadcast worldwide on DAZN.

"“I’m feeling good," said Manuel Flores. "It was only one round, so I feel good, I can go again. I give myself a B today, I should have stopped him earlier.”

In the co-main event presented in association with Miguel Cotto Promotions, Cathedral City’s Tito Sanchez (14-0, 8 KOs) electrified the crowd with a jaw-dropping knockout victory over the tough Edwin “Pupo” Palomares (18-5-3, 9 KOs). Set as a 10-round featherweight fight, the match started out as a slugfest with nonstop action resulting in Palomares being cut over the right eye in the second round and Sanchez’ left eye being cut by an accidental head butt in the third. It was at the top of the eight-round where Sanchez landed a flurry of punches with his right-hand finishing business at 0:53 securing his KO win.

“I feel really great," said Tito Sanchez. "My performance wasn’t great in the earlier rounds because I wasn’t letting go yet, but once I threw my right hand, it connected, and that’s what we were waiting for, for that moment. Palomares wouldn’t stop throwing; he wouldn’t let me plant my feet, so I can could catch him with a right. His condition was excellent. He was on point today."

Keeping his undefeated record intact, Coachella Valley’s Grant Flores (7-0, 5 KOs) went the distance against Carolina, Puerto Rico’s Luis Ramos (7-5-1, 7 KOs) in a six-round middleweight fight. The back-and-forth action kept fans on their feet; Flores was given a warning in round three for a low blow and Ramos took a knee in the fifth. The judges scored the bout unanimously in favor for Flores with scores of 60-53, 59-54, and 60-53. Also on DAZN in a super lightweight fight scheduled for six-rounds, Denver, Colorado’s Daniel “Junebug” Garcia (10-0, 8 KOs) defeated Oxnard, California’s Jorge Villegas (14-3, 13 KOs) via second-round knockout. Villegas succumbed to Garcia’s power twice and did not survive the 10-count.

Also representing the Coachella Valley, Cayden Griffiths (2-0, 2 KOs) dazzled the crowd with a third-round knockout of Markus Bowes (3-7, 2 KOs) of Roxboro, North Carolina in a welterweight fight scheduled for four-rounds. Opening the DAZN broadcast, Santa Ana’s Johnny “Sugarcane” Cañas (6-0, 2 KOs) went the distance against Pedro “Zurdo de Oro” Cruz (3-6, 2 KOs) of San Jose. The six-round lightweight fight was controlled mostly by Cañas, Cruz suffering a cut over the right eye due to an accidental head butt and a cut over the left eye due to a tough blow to the head. All three judges scored the fight 60-54 for Cañas.

In the preliminary bouts, Victorville’s Daniel “Ikaika” Luna (5-1, 5 KOs) added another knockout to his fight resume with a second-round stoppage over Caracas, Venezuela’s Giovanny Gonzalez (2-6, 2 KOs). Scheduled as a four-round lightweight match, Luna sent Gonzalez to the mat twice in the second round, the referee waving the fight off at 2:44. Opening up fight night with a bout scheduled for four-rounds of super bantamweight action, Kevin Gudiño (1-0, 1 KO) of West Covina made a successful professional debut with a technical knockout victory over Bryan Cox (0-2) of Cedar Hill, Texas. Cox was sent down to the mat during the first round, and his corner stopped the fight at the conclusion of the first-round.
