Japan-based Filipino Joel Consulta has scored a smashing first round knockout over Indonesian champion Aldo Hummer who is ranked No. 6 bantamweight by the Orient Pacific Boxing Federation at the Anso Dome in Toyama.

Consulta who has a record of 9-2 with 3 knockouts came in at 123? pounds while Hummer weighed 123?. The Indonesian has a record of 12-4-1 with 6 knockouts.

Well-known boxing man Joe Koizumi who was recently enshrined in the boxing Hall-of-Fame reported that the 27 year old Filipino suffered a nasty cut on the forehead after a clash of heads early in round one. But the Filipino southpaw exploded what Koizumi described as a ?pulverizing southpaw left that dropped Aldo? who tried but failed to beat the count.

The Indonesia who is regarded as a strong puncher has had an erratic record in his last three fights in Japan. Aside from the first round KO at the hands of Consulta, Aldo also lost by a first round TKO in an OPBF title fight against another Japan-based Filipino, Rolly Matsushita who is actually Rolly Lunas.

However, before his annihilation by Lunas, Aldo stunned OPBF ranked Kazuyuki Ichikawa with a first round TKO last November.
