GUERRA: MEXICO VS FILIPINAS: Jay-R Raquinel Aims a Big Win in Mexico Against Yahir Frank for the WBC Silver Superfly Title

Inspired by recent world title wins of fellow Filipinos Melvin Jerusalem and Pedro Taduran, world-ranked Jay-R Raquinel can't wait to climb the ring to battle for the vacant WBC Silver Belt in Mexico.

A fighter of skills and power, the 27-year-old Raquinel (16-2, 13 KO's), from Cauayan in the Philippines, is set to clash hard against Mexican undefeated young rising-star Yahir Frank (17-0, 12 KO's).

The exciting 12-rounder main event rumble will unfold for the vacant WBC Silver Super Flyweight Title in a televised card billed as "GUERRA: MEXICO VS FILIPINAS."

The event will take place in Yahir Frank's hometown City of Hermosillo in Sonora, Mexico, on Saturday, September 28, LIVE on TV Azteca Canal 7, and ABEMA Live.

Strong-looking Jay-R Raquinel flexes his muscles during today's training session at the Highland Boxing Gym in Baguio City in the Philippines.

Importantly, the show will hugely elevate the winner in the world rankings, inching him closer to a possible fight against San Antonio's WBC Super Flyweight World Title Jesse "BAM" Rodriguez (20-0, 13 KO's).

Fans in social media have been begging for "BAM" Rodriguez to unify the Super Flyweight division against Marcos Maidana's IBF/WBA Champion Fernando "Puma" Martinez (17-0, 9 KO's), who earlier this month outclassed four-division world champion Kazuto Ioka.

But if "BAM" Rodriguez, who recently stopped in thrilling fashion Juan Francisco "El Gallo" Estrada, versus "Puma" Rodriguez does not happen (although hopefully it will), then the winner of Jay-R Raquinel vs Yahir Frank could be a possible option.

That's why this WBC "Silver" fight is relevant.

So for the crucial mission, the compatriot of Manny Pacquiao keeps on training under the guidance of experienced head coach Allan Alegria at the Highland Boxing Gym in the mountain City of Baguio in the Philippines.

It's the same high elevation area where ever popular "Pacman" trained for a few of his historic battles.

Raquinel (C) poses with head coach Allan Alegria (to his left) and his teammates today, July 29, at Baguio's Highland Boxing Gym.

Luckily for Raquinel, he is having fantastic teammates helping him with sparring sessions, such as Genesis "Cobra" Libranza, Elmar Zamora, Reymond Yanong, Miel Fajardo and WBF Australasian Champ Elmo Traya.

Notably, last year the promising Mexican Yahir Frank brutally knocked out Filipino super flyweight Jerven Mama (13-4-1, 7 KO’s) in four chapters in Merida, Mexico, proving Yahir that he is a dangerous foe, willing to score scalps.

So what will happen when Yahir Frank and Jay-R Raquinel meet on top of the ring in Hermosillo?

Will the world-ranked Raquinel – currently WBC #6 and IBF #12 – succeed in defeating the hard-hitting Mexican young gun Yahir Frank in his own hometown, becoming a possible opponent for "Bam" Rodriguez?

Or will it be the unbeaten 21-year-old Yahir Frank who will be the one to overpower the Filipino, taking his world-rankings, as well as the brand new WBC Silver Super Flyweight Strap?

"GUERRA: MEXICO VS FILIPINAS" is promoted by Mexico's Zanfer Boxing in association with Akira Sakata's Next Innovation, Brico Santig's Highland Boxing Promotions, and ABEMA Live.
May the Best Man Win!
