
IIEE SLRC chess to be held on June 27, 2024 at Centromall Cabuyao City

Cabuyao City, Laguna---The IIEE Southern Luzon Regional Conference (SLRC) Open Chess Tournament will be held on June 27, 2024 at Centromall Cabuyao, Brgy. Pulo, Cabuyao City, Laguna.
The event is co-organized by IIEE led by Engr. Allan Anthony Alvarez, 2021 IIEE National President with Dr. Fred Paez, the Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) and Rotary Club Nuvali President.
This Event will be FIDE-rated and sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines with individual prizes as follows: Champion - P7000 2nd Place. - 5000 3rd Place - 3000 4th Place - 2000 5th Place - 1000 Top IIEE Member - 1000 Top Executive (PECA Member) -1000 Top Senior (60 & Up) - 1000 Top Junior (18 & Below) -1000 Top Kiddie (12 & Below) -1000 Top Lady - 1000 Top Cabuyao Player -1000. The top 5 teams will get trophies and the 9am to 6pm tournament will be limited to 60 Players only. The tournament format is 7 Rounds, Swiss System with 15 mins + 5 seconds increment. Only the Top 3 members of each team will be computed for team results.
The event will have a DGT set up for the top boards courtesy of JCI Senate Lipa and Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineer (PSME) President Engr. Roger Reyes. The event is one of the side sports during the conference which will be from June 27-29, 2024. This 3-day conference, led by SLR Governor Eduardo Emata Jr. and Host IIEE Central Laguna President Engr. Noel Lobo, will be held at Hotel Marciano, Brgy. Real, Calamba City, Laguna Province. Major highlights of the conference include technical seminars, product presentations, sports, plant tour, and grand fellowship. It will be attended by Licensed Electrical Practitioners (PEE, REE and RME), BSEE/BSEET graduates and students from Southern Luzon Region (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), other IIEE regions in the country and abroad, and also company exhibitors in the electrical industry. We are estimating 450 participants from Southern Luzon IIEE Chapters.
During the closing ceremony, FM Noel Dela Cruz, the Best Import of the on-going online IIEE National Chess Olympiad season 5 which started since January 26, 2024 will be awarded. Also, 2 electronic raffles of the painting prizes worth over P15,000 each will be done.-Marlon Bernardino-
