
SULTAN, GONZALES WIN IN AUSTRALIA

Former World Boxing Foundation (WBF) welterweight champion Dondon ?El Supremo? Sultan scored a first round knockout victory over Damien ?The Rock? Smith while featherweight Ernie Gonzales Jr won a lopsided six round decision over Jerry Spanidis at the Revesby Workers Club in New South Wales, Australia, Friday night.
Smith who had a woeful record of 3 wins against 15 losses and 1 draw with no knockouts was no match for Sultan who was fighting as a light middleweight and was counted out at 34 seconds of the very first round. Sultan improved to 16-11-3 with 8 knockouts while Smith lost his eleventh straight fight .
The 28 year old Gonzales Jr who was coming off an eighth round knockout of undefeated Ben Warburton won handily on the scorecards of all three judges -60-54, 60-55 and 59-58.
