
1st CNES Chess tourney set for May 1

Manila, Philippines — The cream of the crop in Nueva Ecija chess will once again test each other’s mettle through the 1st CNES Chess Tournament slated on May 11 at Waltermart, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
A total of P20,000 in cash prize will be given away to the winners of the 7-round Swiss competition spearheaded by Cabanatuan North Elementary School.
The champion will take home P5,000, while the second to sixth placers will pocket P3,000, P1,500, P1,000, P700 and P500 respectively.
The kiddies winner will earn P2,000, while the second to fifth placers will receive P1,000, P700, P500 and P400 while the sixth to 10th will receive P200 apiece, the 11th to 15th P100 each, while those who will make it to the top 2 finishers for Top Senior, Top Female, Top College and Top Highschool will earn P300, and P200, in order.
"We do this to promote chess in the grass roots level and to discover future chess talents and champions." said Nueva Ecija top chess player Benjamin Bauto.
