BANGKOK, Thailand — Filipino 147-pounder “El Gwapito” Joepher Montaño has traveled to the beautiful and fun Kingdom of Thailand to defend his WBO Oriental Welterweight title from the fists of local Thai challenger Atchariya Wirojanasunobol, a crucial battle in the boxing career of both fighters.
Their 12-rounder will unfold as the main event of Supanat Chanram and Brico Santig’s Highland Boxing Promotions show at the very famous World Siam Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The two warriors of the same height looked in fantastic shape during the official weigh-in ceremony at the plush SC Park Hotel Bangkok, flexing their muscles, displaying their 6-packs while appearing relaxed, smiling and confidents.
REMATCH
This rumble is in fact a rematch!
Six years ago the two men fought, Atchariya Wirojanasunobol (14-2, 6 KO’s), defeating Joepher Montaño (17-5-2, 15 KO’s).
It happened in a Thailand’s NKL Promotion at the Workpoint TV Studios here in Bangkok.
It was an exciting main event clash with Atchariya besting the Pinoy ‘Montaño by points in a 10-round unanimous decision.
At that time, all judges were Thai. This time all judges are Thais again. Does that matter?
“That doesn’t matter. Because this time, I am better prepared. I am going to win so clear,” promises Montaño.
“I am in good shape, feeling strong. I am going to defeat him (Atchariya).
“I will get revenge and will defend my (WBO Oriental) title,” assured the relaxed 27-year-old Negros Occidental native.
What will happen?
Will lion heart Joepher Montaño be able to rock, out-land dominate and ultimately get revenge from Atchariya, retaining belt while improving his world ranking in the super hot and profitable welterweight division?
Or will the tough Thai warrior repeat a win over the popular Pinoy southpaw boxer?
In the same show, Baguio fighting girl, former world title challenger Jesebelle Pagaduan (12-2-1, 5 KO’s) comes back to boxing action against taller, younger Panumad Bubpamalo, 21, of Thailand. Their clash is a 6-round non-title fight.
Fans around the world may watch the whole 13-bout show LIVE for FREE with English commentator.

The first bout starts at 2 pm Thailand Time (3 pm in the Philippines)
May the Best Man Win!
