Former International Boxing Federation minimum weight champion Florante Condes is determined to regain his title and told his handlers led by well-known promoter and manager Sammy Gello-ani ?I will do whatever you want me to do because I want to regain the title I lost.?
Gellon-ani indicated that he was planning a comeback fight for Condes in September in Manila as part of his efforts to get another crack at the title.
The husband of Condes? aunt, Loy Valencia, who is acting as his guardian, Larry Valencia told Viva Sports that the group ?dissected the whole situation? after the loss and suggested that both Condes and his trainer Danny Bactol ?make some changes? although he didn?t indicate what the proposed changes were.
Valencia said they all agreed that Condes begins training after a three-week break in preparation for a tune-up fight in the Philippines with a roster of opponents from Asia to choose from.
Valencia said Condes and he didn?t sleep until 1:00 p.m. of the day after the fight. He said the party would return to Manila aboard a Philippine Airlines flight from Los Angeles and will arrive early morning of June 23.
The handlers as well as Condes conceded that he really lost the fight against mandatory challenger, undefeated Raul ?Rayito? Garcia, but said the long layoff because of managerial and contractual problems and the failure to even have a tune-up fight hurt his chances.
