
PSME is Online Chess Champion of PTC World Engineering Day

The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) topped the Group A to become overall champion in the 30-team tournament which started last January until the final 5th round last March 22 held thru the Lichess Platform.
With a total score of 52 points, they edged IIEE Singapore, 49, and IIEE Saudi, 46. Institute of Electronic Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) and IIEE Metro Central complete the top 5.
Efraim Echanova of IIEE Saudi topped the individual honors via tie break over PSME Harrison Maamo with both of them amassed an identical 16 points.
IIEE United Arabs Emirates emerged as group B champion with 37 pts. Completing the top 5 are IIEE Southern Laguna, IIEE Quezon, IIEE Ormoc and IIEE Iloilo.
IIEE Metro East is group C champion followed by IIEE Central Luzon, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineer (PICE), IIEE Caraga and IIEE Southern Luzon.
The face to face chess tournament will be held on March 24, 2024 at Koten in Pasay City led by IM Efren Bagamasbad who will play for the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE) to be graced by GM Eugene Torre and GM Joey Antonio.
In Bowling, PICE dominated the game with 2569 pin falls edging the team 2 of Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE) by 5 pins. Four other teams of IIEE finished with in top 7 among 22 competing teams with IECEP placing 5th.
Champion PICE are from Cavite Chapter composed of Julian Carbonel Jr., Rodel Tungala, Art San Jose and Mon Miranda who got the high game honor. 1st Runner Up - IIEE Team 2 is from State of Qatar (IIEE SQC) with Ernie Jacinto, Pat Carabeo, Carlito Tandoc and Nestor Sanchez. 2nd Runner Up - IIEE Team 3 Metro East are Andy Sta. Ana, Rammel Martin, Phil Dailo and Joel Guevarra. 3rd Runner Up - IIEE Team 1 of SQC compose of Pat Taronas, Joey Santiago, Nilo Abril and Levi Alejo. Other individial winners are High Game Female is from the host Philippine Society of Sanitary Engineer (PSSE) Jhie Rocabo, High Series Female PICE Wheng De Guzman and High Series Male IIEE Jun Bismonte.
In shooting, IIEE champion team is compose of Sonny Banaag, Francis Sumague, Benson Alam, Reneboy Lachica and Marvin Valmonte. Individual Champion is Francis Suamague and 1st Runner up is Jeffrey Arcalas, both from IIEE.-Marlon Bernardino-
