PTC WED update: PICE bowling champ, IIEE Millennial and GenX teams lead basketball tournament

The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) edged the defending champion, Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE), by 8 pins in a 4-game series that was participated in by 22 teams in the PTC World Engineering Day tournament. Three other IIEE teams also landed on top.

Meanwhile in basketball, defending champion IIEE Millennials beat the Society of Aerospace Engineers of the Philippines (SAEP), 120-109, to stay unbeaten. Millennial Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineer (PSME) notched its first win beating the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP), 101-96 and GenX IECEP def. PSME 85-75.

Current standing are as follows: For Gen X IIEE 2-0, IECEP 2-1 and PSME 0-3; For Millennials IIEE 3-0, SAEP 2-1, PSME 1-2 and IECEP 0-3. The semis games resume on March 17 and 23 and championship on March 24, 2024 at Koten Enterprise in Pasay City.
In the IIEE National Chess Olympiad Season 5, the results are as follows: PICE def. IIEE Bicol 23-15, IECEP def. Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines (GEP) 15-11, IIEE Mindanao def. IIEE Foreign Region 34-31 and IIEE Luzon def. IIEE Visayas 32-23. The standing after round 4 in the engineering affiliate division is as follows: PSME and IECEP with 6 match points each, IIEE Bicol and PICE with 2 apiece and GEP 0. In the IIEE Region division, IIEE Mindanao with 6, IIEE Foreign with 5, IIEE Luzon with 4, IIEE Visayas with 1 and IIEE Metro Manila 0. For the PTC WED online chess group championship, the final games will be on March 22, 2024.-Marlon Bernardino-
