NM Bernardino tops Round 4 of PTC World Engineering Chess

On the 4th Round of the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) World Engineering Day on-line chess tournament held via LiChess last March 8, 2024, NM Marlon Bernardino topped the tournament with 16 points and no loss in 10 games.
He was supported by IM Angelo Young with 10 points to lead the IIEE Metro Central in topping the group B. They will be moving up to Group A championship on March 22 with IIEE Metro West, IIEE CDO, IIEE SQC and IIEE Metro South.
In group A, NM Ronald Llavanes and Rommel Valdez, with 12 points each, led IIEE Bicol over IIEE Saudi with FM Noel Dela Cruz and NM Robert Arellano and Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineer (PSME) team led by NM Aglipay Oberio. Also staying in Group A are Institute of Electronic Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP), IIEE Western Visayas and IIEE Singapore.
Gary Legaspi 11 point led IIEE Southern Laguna to top Group C besting IIEE Ormoc with IM Jose Efren Bagamasbad and IIEE Socsargen Davao. The 30-teams tournament are clustered in 3 groups where the winner of Group A on final round 5 will be the Gold medalist, the Winner of Group B as Silver and Group C as Bronze. This 5 rounds tournament is co-hosted by IIEE and IECEP. The winners will be awarded on March 24, 2024 during the 1-day on-the-board tournament to be held in Koten Enterprise in Pasay City with GM Eugene Torre and GM Joey Antonio as special guest alongside Shield Car Coating President and CEO Jeff Bugayong and RDR Business Solution Inc. President and CEO/Pambansang Business Mentor Reymond Delos Reyes.
In 2nd D’ Engineers Cup Basketball held last March 9 in Koten, IIEE def. IECEP 102-89 Gen X division and IIEE def. PSME 115 – 75 in the Millennial Division. The Society of Aerospace Engineer of the Philippines (SAEP) joined IIEE Millennial in 2-0 win-loss card with a win vs IECEP, 106 - 101. IIEE and SAEP will battle for the lead on March 16, 2024. Other standing after day 2 of the tournaments in Gen X are: IIEE 2-0, IECEP 1-1 and PSME 0-2 while in Millenials both the PSME and IECEP totted 0-2. (Marlon Bernardino)
