Reymart Tagacanao Stops Indonesian Lamandau in Bohol; Becomes "The New" WBA Asia Super Fly Champion

TAGBILARAN, Bohol – In an entertaining battle, promising Reymart "The Cebuano Assassin" Tagacanao (8-0, 7 KO's) decked and stopped in 6 frames brave Indonesian warrior Hamson "Tiger" Lamandau (12-6-1, 9 KO's), to conquer the vacant WBA Asia Super Flyweight title on Friday, March 8, at the Saulog Gym in Tagbilaran, Bohol, Philippines.
From the start, the 24-year-old from Carcar City, Cebu, made good use of his superior boxing skills and physical advantage, to repeatedly land damaging combinations on the big-hearted Indonesian Lamandau, who showed courage, mettle of steel and willingness to engage.
A big body attack launched by Tagacanao in round two hurt Lamandau, dropping the Borneo native to the canvas on his knees in obvious pain.
Yet, the strong Indonesian "Tiger" managed handle the pain, regaining his vertical, going on fight Tagacanao four more rounds.
Trainer Editor Villamor and Referee Nowel Haduca raise the hands of Reymart Tagacanao after the Cebu native stopped Indonesian Hamson Lamandau in the 6th round in Bohol.
But then in chapter 6, another vicious attack from Reymart Tagacanao rocked Lamandau down once again from where this time the Indonesian could not get up, forcing international third man Nowel Haduca from Quezon City, Metro Manila, to wave the fight off.
Official time for the TKO was at 2:13 in round 6.
With the win, the promising Tagacanao claims his first regional title, being more than willing to push his career forward in the hot super flyweight division.
Ring officials for the WBA Asia were Nowel Haduca, Silvestre Abainza, Gerald Bassig and Greg Ortega.
The organizer of the show was active Boholano promoter Floriezyl Podot of PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions with the matchmaking effort of veteran coach Edito “ALA” Villamor and young man of boxing Jemerito Sosoban.
