
Arquero seeks to defend chess title

Manila---Kevin Arquero, one of the top players of the multi-titled Philippine Army chess team seeks to defend his title in the 3rd edition Philippine Chess Hall of Fame Rapid Chess Tournament on Saturday, February 24 at the 4th level Farmers Plaza, Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City.
"I hope to do well in this tournament," said the Pasay City resident Arquero.
The event, organized by NCFP director Martin Gaticales, offers a top purse of P5,000.
Other woodpushers vying in the event sponsored by the Balinas Family and Senator Manny Pacquiao are 1st edition champion IM Daniel Quizon, IM Michael Concio Jr., IM Barlo Nadera, IM Ricardo de Guzman, IM Jose Efren Bagamasbad, WIM Kylen Joy Mordido, FM Mark Jay Bacojo, FM Alekhine Nouri, FM Noel dela Cruz, FM Adrian Ros Pacis, NM Romeo Alcodia, NM Jasper Faeldonia, NM Carlo Magno Rosaupan and NM Eduardo Estrella.
The second to fifth placers will receive P4,000, P3,000, P2,000 and P1,500, respectively.
Sixth to 10th placers will receive wooden chess board while category winners for the top master, non-master, varsity player, kiddie 10 year old and below, lady, senior 60 year old and above and unrated will earn a chess set. Call or text mobile number: 0999-8851432.-Marlon Bernardino-
