Reymart Gaballo is the top-ranked contender in the bantamweight division and may get a title shot at WBO bantamweight champion Jason Moloney after a quick stoppage of his Thai foe.

WBO No. 1 rated bantamweight boxer Gaballo boosted his chances for a world title shot against current WBO bantamweight champion Moloney of Australia. He needed only 32 seconds to finish his foe Thai veteran Phai Pharob with a catastrophic knockout in the very first round of their WBO Oriental bantamweight title bout.

Gaballo displayed devastating punches, unleashing a left-right-left combination to the body that decked the grizzled challenger in the very first round to retain the WBO Oriental bantamweight crown at the Midas Hotel and Casino in Pasay City.

Pharob was not able to get up as he grimaced in pain as referee Danrex Tapdasan counted him out. Gaballo said that he can feel his punches that were solidly landed on his foe.

The bout, scheduled for 12 rounds, was the main event of a nine-fight card put together by Sanman Promotions in cooperation with MP Promotions. The co-main event saw super flyweight prospect KJ Catajara end a year-long layoff with a unanimous decision victory over Jun Blazo in an eight-round bout.

Gaballo’s fierce knockout of Pharob will serve as a warning sign to the team of WBO bantamweight champion Jason Moloney of Australia. Gaballo most probably will be given the chance to avenge his futile title shot against Nonito Donaire Jr. for the WBC bantamweight title in December 11, 2021 in Carson, California, USA

His loss to Donaire was the only defeat in Gaballo’s record which is now at 27-1 with 22 knockouts. The slate of Pharob skidded to 35-4 with 22 knockouts. The Thai was a former World Boxing Association (WBA) interim minimumweight champion.

Gaballo's promoter JC Manangquil has said earlier that Sanman Promotions which he manages and MP (Manny Pacquiao) Promotions headed by Sean Gibbons would be chasing a fight with Moloney (27-2, 19 KOs) as soon as possible.

Gaballo, who is also ranked No. 5 by the IBF, will only have a short break then will return to intense training under Nonito Donaire Sr., who also honed him for the Pharob fight.

On January 13, 2024 in Quebec City, Canada, Moloney successfully defended his WBO bantamweight title against Saul Sanchez by a majority decision. On May 13, 2023 in Stockton, California, USA, Moloney defeated Vincent Astrolabio by majority decision to win the vacant WBO bantamweight title.

Moloney's only career losses were dealt by elite fighters Naoya Inoue of Japan via knockout and Emmanuel Rodriguez of Puerto Rico via split decision. Gaballo beat Rodriguez via split decision on December 19, 2020.

Sports History: February 16, 1970. Joe Frazier defeated Jimmy Ellis by 4th round TKO to become an undisputed world heavyweight champion.
