The Los Angeles Clippers have gained a tie for first in the Western Conference without lifting a finger as the OKC Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves both lost on the road today.

With a record of 34-15 following its 4th road win yesterday, the Clippers are technically in tie with the Thunder, Timberwolves and the idle Denver Nuggets all with 35-16 records.

The Thunder fell to the Utah Jazz 124-117 and the Timberwolves lost to the Chicago Bulls, 129-123.

Ironically both the Jazz and the Bulls are currently down in their respective Conference standings.

Lauri Markenen and Hohn Collins led the Jazz with 33 points and 11 rebounds and 22 and 9 respectively. They were supported by Collin Sexton (16), Keyonte George (14), Jordan Clarkson (12) and Kelly Olynyk (10).

The Thunder were led by Shai Gilgeous Alexander (28), Jalen Williams (26) and center Chet Holmgren with 22 points and 8 boards. After forward Luguentz Dorf's 10 points no other Thunder scored in double figure.

DeMar DeRozan and Coby White scored 33 points each and got support from Nikola Vucevic (24) and center Andre Drummond (16 points and 16 boards) to carry the Bulls over the Timberwolves.

Anthony Edwards and Karl Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves with 38 and 33 respectively but got little support from their teammates including Rudy Gobert who could only chip in 12 points although he hauled 16 boards.

Meanwhile, the road woes of the Milwaukee Bucks continued as they lost to the Phoenix Suns, 114-106 their fourth in a five game road swing. With a record now of 33-18, the Bucks have been pushed down to third in the East by the streaking Cleveland Cavaliers (32-16). They are in tie with the New York Knicks.

The Bucks were on the last leg of a five-game road trip when they took on the Phoenix Suns. It promised to be an exciting game between two teams that could potentially meet in the 2024 NBA Finals. The game lived up to the hype with the superstars delivering as expected.

But the Bucks were short of personnel, chiefly Damiam Lillard, while the Suns have Kevin Durant (28) Devin Booker (32) and Bradley Beal (25) plus center Jusuf Nurkic, 10 points plus 10 rebounds operating on full throttle to neutralize the scoring of Giannis Antetokoumpo (34) and Malik Beastley (22). Durant and Beal also pulled down 10 boards each in suppprt of Nurkic.
