Jaime Munguia decked John Ryder four times and stopped the tough British opponent in the ninth round of their 12-round super middleweight bout at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Ryder was KO'd only for the second time in his 13-year professional career.

This signaled as a warning to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez whom Ryder went the full distance in his previous fight. Canelo defeated Ryder in a 12-round, unanimous decision last May 6 at Akron Stadium in Zapopan, Mexico.

“It would be a great fight among Mexicans,” Munguia told DAZN’s Chris Mannix, through Boxing Scene. “And if Canelo gives us the chance, it will be an honor to be in the same ring as him.”

Mungia held the WBO junior middleweight title from 2018 to 2019. He is ranked as the world's fourth best active middleweight by BoxRec, The Ring magazine and ESPN, and fifth by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board. Munguía's knockout-to-win ratio was a high 79%.

He was born Jaime Aarón Munguía Escobedo on October 6, 1996, now age 27, at Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. He stood at 6 ft, 0 in (183 cm) with a reach of 72 in (183 cm) and an Orthodox stance. He is undefeated in 43 fights with 34 knockout wins.

Munguia turned professional in 2013 and compiled a record of 28-0 before challenging and beating American Sadam Ali on May 12, 2018 for the WBO junior middleweight title.

Frankie Billy Randall was an American professional boxer who competed professionally from 1983 to 2005. He was a three-time light welterweight world champion, having held the WBA and WBC titles between 1994 and 1997. Randall was legendary being the first boxer to defeat Julio César Chávez, whose record at the time of their January 29, 1994 fight was at 89 wins and a draw.

Randall was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and grew up in Morristown, Tennessee. He signed with promoter Don King and fought in the next six and a half years on the undercards of various championship fights promoted by King.

Sports History: January 29, 1994. Randall fought for the WBC light welterweight title against champion Julio César Chávez, in the grand opening of the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. Chávez came into the fight with an 89-0-1 record and was an 18-to-1 favorite.
* * *
Randall won the early rounds, until the middle part of the fight where he had a big lead on the scorecards. Chávez began to catch up and by the 10th round, Randall's margin narrowed. Chávez committed an illegal low blow that cost him a point deduction in the 11th round. Randall knocked Chávez down for the first time in his career. Randall was proclaimed WBC light welterweight champion via split decision.

Chavez disputed the decision and blamed his loss on the referee who deducted two points from his score for low blows. This included the score in the eleventh round that affected that of judge Angel Guzman's card, which decided the outcome of the fight.
* * *
Guzman scored the bout 114–113 for Randall, meaning that the fight would have ended in a draw as Chuck Giampa had Randall winning by a score of 116–111 and Abraham Chavarria had it 114–113 for Chavez.
