SPORTS FACTS AND FIGURES 21: REYMART GABALLO DEFENDS WBO ORIENTAL TITLE AGAINST INDONESIAN FLASIDUS NUNO

Former WBC interim bantamweight champion Reymart “Assassin” Gaballo will climb the ring after eight months of inactivity with a regional title bout in Manila on February 13, 2024.

He will defend the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental bantamweight title against Indonesian Flasidus Nuno in a 10-round bout at the Midas Hotel and Casino in Pasay City, Metro Manila.

Gaballo’s last fight was last June 17, 2023, where he defended the same title against fellow Filipino Michael Bravo via a split decision at the Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City. The scorecards were 95-94 for Bravo and 96-93 twice for Gaballo.

Nuno possesses a good record of 8-1-2 with six knockouts. He has a high 75% knockout rate in his promising boxing career.

The Indonesian was defeated only in his professional debut in 2017, where he lost by points to countryman Tobias Roropui. He won the Indonesia Boxing Association (IBA) bantamweight title over countryman Abdul Rauf and the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Silver bantamweight title over Thai Artid Bamrungauea by 4th round knockout.

Nuno will be facing a tough opponent in Gaballo, who is the former interim world bantamweight champion who has fought more flights with 26 wins and 21 knockouts, with one defeat.

Gaballo has a higher 81% knockout rate. His only defeat was inflected by the former four-division world champion Nonito Donaire Jr. last December 11, 2021 in Carson City, California, by a fourth-round knockout.

Gaballo of Polomolok, Cotabato del Sur, now fighting out of Sanman Boxing Gym in General Santos City fought Donaire for the WBC world bantamweight title in an unusual all-Filipino world title match.
