Atty. Elpidio Bautista Jr. National Executive Chess: All eyes on National Master Zulfikar Aliakbar Sali

MANILA---An added attraction will be National Master Zulfikar Aliakbar Sali who will match his skills against some of the country's top woodpushers when the Atty. Elpidio Bautista Jr. National Executive Chess Championship gets underway on December 30, 2023, 10am at the Vista Mall, Brgy. Don Jose in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.

Fans can look forward to seeing "Master Zul" again, much known in the chess world not in the online platform but competing in the face to face 64 square board.

"Master Zul" is a many-time Canadian Chess Champion, Senior Nurse of Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC Canada and CEO of Sahaya Dermatology Clinic in Zamboanga City.

“This is a big opportunity for the young chessers to see again "Master Zul" (National Master Zulfikar Aliakbar Sali) in person and hopefully it will inspire them to get into sports,” Noel Jay "Super B" Estacio referring the participation of "Master Zul".
It will be a seven round Swiss system format applying 20 minutes plus 5 seconds delay.

The Executive champion will earn P20,000. The second placer will get P10,000, third P7,000, fourth P5,000 and fifth P3,000. Sixth to 10th placers will receive P2,000 each.

The best senior, best lady, best top 1800 and below, best unrated and best Laguna players will receive P2,000 each.
