Cavite routs Manila in PCAP online chess tournament

There was no doubting Cavite Spartan's dominance this time.
A fired-up Cavite Spartans squad humbled rival Manila Indios Bravos, 20-1, Saturday night to complete a remarkable 21-4 aggregate victory in the Northern Division of the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) online tournament being held at Chess.com Platform.

Ricky Batcho (Board 5) delivered a hat-trick, with brilliant wins against Jhulo Goloran to complete a shut-out victory, 14-0, against Manila in the rapid play.

Also delivering for Cavite were GM Aleksey Sorokin (Board 1), IM Rolando Nolte (Board 2), WIM Bernadette Galas (Board 3),GM Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. (Board 4), NM Carlo Magno Rosaupan (Board 6) and AGM Voltaire Marc Paraguya (Board 7).
Sorokin outplayed IM Ronald Dableo, Nolte trounced Nelson Busa, Galas crushed Jellie Magro, Antonio beat IM Chito Garma, Rosaupan nipped Aljie Cantonjos and Paraguya bested Malik Faizhal Gumama.

Earlier, Cavite defeated Manila, 6-1, in blitz portion.
NM Rommel Guanzon (Board 1) outclassed Dableo, NM Raymond Salcedo (Board 2) waylaid Busa, WIM Marie Antoinette San Diego (Board 3) walloped Magro, FM Carlo Edgardo Garma (Board 4) edged his brother IM Chito Garma, and Renie Malupa (Board 7) dealt Gumama.
Batcho (Board 5) drew with Goloran and Alexis Emil Maribao (Board 6) split the points with Cantonjos.

San Juan Predators defeated Rizal Batch Towers, 21-0, and Isabela Knights of Alexander, 13.5-7.5, to share the lead with 23-2 slate in the Northern Division along with Pasig City King Pirates.
Pasig bounced back after a 17-4 loss to Cavite, outwitted Rizal, 21-0.

PCAP, the country’s first play-for-pay league, is headed by PCAP President Atty. Paul Elauria, chairman Michael Angelo Ong Chua, PCAP treasurer Atty. Arnel Batungbakal and Technical Committee chairman Engr. Jojo Buenaventura and sponsored by San Miguel Corporation, Ayala Land, Buenaviel and PCWorx and sanctioned by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB), headed by Chairman Atty.
