PCAP: Cavite bounces back from San Juan loss, crushes Pasig

After a heartbreaking loss at the hands of San Juan Predators, 11-10, Cavite Spartans responded with a masterful performance against Pasig City King Pirates, 17-4, in the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) online tournament being held at Chess.com Platform on Wednesday.

National Master Carlo Magno Rosaupan (Board 7) defeated Carl Espallardo in 38 moves of English Opening.

Also delivering for Cavite were GM Aleksey Sorokin (Board 1), IM Rolando Nolte (Board 2), WIM Bernadette Galas (Board 3), AGM Voltaire Marc Paraguya (Board 5) and split by GM Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. (Board 4).

Sorokin beat GM Mark Paragua, Nolte outclassed IM Joel Pimentel, Galas subdued WFM Sherily Cua, Paraguya bested Jerome Villanueva and Antonio drew with IM Cris Ramayrat.

Mark Kevin Labog provided the full point for Pasig beating Kevin Mirano.

Cavite smashed Pasig, 11-3, in their rapid game.

Cavite also won against Pasig, 6-1, in their blitz encounter.
The win helped Cavite Spartans improve its win-loss mark to 20-4 in the Northern division and to keep at the No. 3 rank.
Pasig City King Pirates and San Juan Predators, tallied identical 21-2 slate.

Against San Juan, Cavite lost 4-3 in the blitz portion and settled 7-all deadlock in the rapid play.

PCAP, the country’s first play-for-pay league, is headed by PCAP President Atty. Paul Elauria, chairman Michael Angelo Ong Chua, PCAP treasurer Atty. Arnel Batungbakal and Technical Committee chairman Engr. Jojo Buenaventura and sponsored by San Miguel Corporation, Ayala Land, Buenaviel and PCWorx and sanctioned by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB), headed by Chairman Atty.
