Philippines’ Under15 WBSC Softball World Cup Team Advances to the Super Round

With the conclusion of the Opening Round of the Under15 WBSC Softball World Cup, the Cebuana-Lhuillier backed Philippine team advances to the super round part of the tournament after bowing down to fellow countries United States, Puerto Rico, and Brazil.

All six teams will enter the Super Round carrying over their respective Opening Round head-to-head records. As a result, Japan and USA (2-0) will start the Super Round on top of the standings, followed by Puerto Rico and Chinese Taipei with 1-1 records. Mexico and the Philippines will have a 0-2 record following group play.

The top two teams at the conclusion of the Super Round will compete For the Title of World Champion at Ota Stadium on Sunday, 29 October at 14:00. Third and fourth place finishers will play the Bronze Medal Game at 11:00.

ASAPHIL President Jean Henri Lhuillier said in an interview that he is confident that the girls can manage all-throughout the rest of the tournament. "Some of the opponents that the girls have faced have been difficult. However, I believe that with the right amount of determination and grit, our girls can still finish strong. We only need to have faith."

The PH team’s quest is being supported by the nation’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines.

Chinese Taipei and Puerto Rico will open the Super Round on October 26 at 11:00 am followed by the game between Philippines and Japan at 14:00, and Mexico and USA at 17:00.

No. 8 Italy, No. 10 Czechia, No. 18 Peru, No. 16 Brazil, and No. 23 New Zealand will compete in the Placement Round.-Marlon Bernardino-
