OFW woodpusher Danny Reyes to compete in 2023 Asian Seniors Chess Championships

MANILA---Danny Reyes, an OFW from UAE and President of ADFORCE- Abu Dhabi Filipino Organization Chess Enthusiast is here in town to join the 2023 Asian Seniors Chess Championships from October 14-22, 2023 at the Knights Templar Hotel in Tagaytay City, Philippines.

Direct Grandmaster Title norms and outright International Master Titles plus $3,000 cash prizes are up for grabs in this week-long event, hosted by City of Tagaytay headed by mayor Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino Jr. and Cavite Vice Governor Athena Bryana Tolentino under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation and International Chess Federation and in cooperation with the National Chess Federation of the Philippines headed by chairman/president Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr., Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Olympic Committee.

This will be his second appearance in Asian Senior, first was in Damascus,Syria last December 2011.

His trip is sponsored by his generous friend Alex Bautista, owner of Yourtime Watch Repair Services in 2f Corinthian Plaza, Makati. Yourtime expertise is repairing Rolex watches, all staff are ex Rolex technicians. His other sponsor is Motoluci , a retail store selling mainly motorcycle helmets which have branches in Imus, Las Piñas and Alabang as well the famous Edelyn’s Homemade Nuts from Minalin, Pampanga.

Danny started playing chess again in 2015 playing his first tournament in the Abu Dhabi Chess tournament. In 2016 he got a category award in the same tournament. In October of the same year he played in Millionaires Chess in Atlantic City. In 2019 he played in the World Open together with his friends from Dubai. He was invited to play in Iran and Oman.

His game against GM Viktor Moskalenko made him famous in the chess community in UAE where he almost beat the coaching GM from Spain rated 2500+ on that time and got a draw after 100+ moves. Everyone was looking in the big screen and many congratulated him after that rapid game. He has beaten lowly rated IM and drawn some of his games.
