SGG Promotions of well-known boxing manager and promoter Sammy Gello-ani has entered into a tie-up with the No.1 promoter in Thailand, the Kokiet Group of Companies with the partnership aiming to produce world champions from Asia.

The tie-up was formalized at a major press conference in Bangkok last June 2 which was attended by company sponsors in Thailand who are committed to support boxing promotions under the banner of the unified group both in the Philippines and Thailand.

The first major promotion of the venture will be in Zamboanga City on the morning of July 27 in which WBO Oriental featherweight champion Eric Canoy will defend his title against Terdsak Jandeaeng. Two other Filipino boxers will battle Thai opponents but no names have been mentioned as yet.

Canoy who won the title with a ninth round TKO over Tanzania?s Rajabu Maoja in a fight card that drew 10,000 fight fans last 23 has a record of 7-0-1 with 5 knockouts while the tough Terdsak, nicknamed :?Pit Bull? boasts of a record of 29-3 with 19 knockouts and has fought some of the best in the 126 pound division.

The Thai lost a unanimous twelve round decision in a WBO title fight to Steven Luevano last March 16 and also lost by a seventh round TKO to Juan Manuel Marquez in a WBO Interim title fight on August 5, 2006. Terdsak had earlier dropped a twelve round unanimous decision to Joan Guzman in a WBO title eliminator.

A joint news release from the two groups said that with this partnership between SGG Promotions and the Kokiet Grioup Filipino boxers are ?assured of getting fair and just scoring when they fight in Thailand and that ?hopefully, hometown decisions will be a thing of the past.?

The partnership is likely to be a big boost for boxing in both the Philippines and Thailand as well as the rest of Asia.
