Kuya Buboy Abalos chessfest gets underway Oct 8

MANILA---THE Kuya Buboy Abalos Limbas Mandaragit Eagles Club Chess Tournament 2023 excitement is set to unfold on October 8 at the Robinsons Galleria Edsa corner Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City.
The one-day Swiss System format competition welcomes participants of all ages, from children to adults.

Some 150 woodpushers are expected to see action in the event organized by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Chess Club and sponsored by sportsman Renato "Kuya Buboy" Abalos in cooperation with National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Director Martin "Binky" Gaticales.

The champion will win a trophy, gift certificate and a cash prize of P5,000, while the runner-up will receive P3,000 and a medal. The third placer will take home P2,000 as the fourth and fifth placers will each pocket P1,500 and P1,000, respectively.
Sixth to Tenth placers will bring home P500 each.
Special awardees, such as top lady, kiddies, juniors, seniors (55-60) and seniors (56-61), will be given P500 gift certificate apiece.
