MANILA---The Philippines and China battled it out for the Bronze Medal with the latter coming out on top with a commendable 6-1 record, held at Pingtan Softball Stadium in Fujian, China. This automatically gave China the bronze with the PH team settling for 4th place.
The loss means that the Cebuana Lhuillier-backed team missed out on the three available slots in the U-18 Women's Softball World Cup Championship scheduled in 2024.
ASAPHIL President Jean Henri Lhuillier is proud of the team's achievements and for bagging the 4th place in the Asia Cup. "Our team gave it their all. I am proud of each and every one of them, from the players to the coaches, for showing the world the true essence of Philippine softball. We're beyond excited to see them all grow and achieve even greater success in the future."
Throughout the tournament, the Philippines' U18 softball team encountered formidable opponents, including powerhouses like Japan and Chinese Taipei. During the Super Round, they faced and was humbled by Japan, who ultimately placed gold overall. The PH Team absorbed another loss after that by Chinese Taipei, who placed silver.
The Cebuana Lhuillier backed squads made history when it qualified for no less than four World Cup matches- all in one year. Aside from the U18, it also qualified for the WBSC U15, the Co-ed slow pitch, and the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup.-Marlon Bernardino-
