MGC New Life Christian Academy Danry Seth Romualdez wins silver for PH in blitz competition at 7th Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championship in Hainan, China

MANILA---MGC New Life Christian Academy Grade 3 student Danry Seth Romualdez won a silver award for the Philippines in the 8-under division of the 7th Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championship in Changjiang Chess Bay, Hainan Province, China on Thursday, August 10. His silver was for the blitz competition.

"I would like to dedicate my victory to my countrymen," said Romualdez, one of the top players of Pasig City who honed his skills under the guidance of Fide Master Christopher Castellano.
Romualdez had five wins, one draw and one loss for a total 5.5 points, the same output of Moxuan Bai of China who got the bronze medal after the tie break points were applied.

Zhirui Zhang of China secured the gold medal with 6.0 points.

The 8-year-old chess wizard scored victories over Tulga Lkhagvademchig of Mongolia in the first round, Tseesuren Tenuun of Mongolia in the second round, Amarsaikhan Amarkhuu of Mongolia in the fourth round, Tianwen Chen of China in the sixth round and Beichen Zhang of China in the seventh and final round.
