Samano tops Sokor blitz chess

MANILA---Renato Samano Jr. topped the 2nd Blitz Chess Championships last Sunday at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, South Korea.

Samano finished the tournament with 6.0 points to take home the title. The event was organized by the Philippine Embassy in South Korea in cooperation with Philippine E-9 chess club.

Danny Layam, Recca Joel Carcueva, Hyo Jin Kim and Emerson Mendoza got 5.0 points each to trail Samano for the second, third, fourth and fifth placers. Layam, however, took the second place finish after acquiring higher tie break points, followed by third Carcueva, fourth Hyo Jin and fifth Mendoza.

Cain Miro, Raffy Miranda, Viel Espinosa, Erwin Corias, Augusto Villarosa, Hyo Seong Kim and Romeo Lambonao were tied at sixth to 12th placers with 4.0 points each.-Marlon Bernardino-
