Franchesca Largo rules PSC Women Rapid Chess Tournament

MANILA---Franchesca Largo ruled the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Women Rapid Chess Tournament held on Sunday, July 16 at the Athlete's Dining Hall of PhilSports Complex in Pasig City.
Largo collected a total of 4.5 points in five outings to secure the title.

Rizalyn Jasmine Tejada also scored the same but had to settle for the second place as Largo had the superior tie-break score.

Largo scored victories over Beatriz Anne Barbosa (Round 1), Keira Alexandria Aviso (Round 2), Arleah Cassandra Sapuan (Round 3) and Kate Nicole Ordizo (Round 5). She conceded her only draw with Bea Mendoza in Round 4.

With 4 points each, Mendoza, Ayana Nicole Usman, Me Ann Joy Baclayon, Ordizo, Divine Grace Luna and Kaye Lalaine Regidor tied for third to eight place.

Tied for ninth to twelfth place, with 3.5 points each, were Samantha Babol Umayan, Anabelle Gonzales, Alleana Beatrice Gonzales and Elle Castronuevo.

10-year-old Nika Juris Nicolas, the country's youngest National Master won the best performer in the Under 12 category.

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Richard Bachmann, Commissioner Olivia "Bong" Coo, Long Jump Queen of the Philippines Elma Muros-Posadas, NCFP CEO GM Jayson Gonzales, NCFP Legal Counsel Atty. Nikki de Vega and WGM Janella Mae Frayna graced the said chessfest.-Marlon Bernardino-
