9th edition Kamatyas FIDE Rated Rapid Chess Invitational Tournament set for June 17

MANILA---The cream of the crop in Philippine chess will once again test each other’s mettle through the 9th edition Kamatyas FIDE Rated Rapid Chess Invitational Tournament slated on Saturday, June 17 at Ace Center Point in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

The 15 minutes plus 5 seconds increment time control format event which was also made possible by International Master Roderick Nava and Mr. David Almirol, co-founder of Kamatyas Chess Club in close cooperation with Mr. Joselito Dormitorio and Mr. Mark John Centillo featured chess players from Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The champion will take home P30,000, while the second to fourth placers will pocket P10,000, P7,000, and P5,000, respectively. The fifth to 10th will receive P2,000 apiece.

Among the early entries are Singapore based International Master candidate Edgar Reggie Olay, Jayson Salubre, Jeriel Manlimbana, Allen Mirano, Ronald Nonles, Anthony Mosqueda, Philip John Leyson, Alexander Clavite, Elias Banquiran and Andre Miguel Jorgio.
