The 15-year-old Marticio, a Grade 10 student of Pulo National High School collected 6.5 points in seven outings.
Marticio scored victories over Arleah Cassandra Sapuan of Valencia, Negros Oriental in the first round, Sara Dalagan of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental in the second round, April Joy Claros of Angeles City, Pampanga in the third round, Shaniah Francine Tamayo of San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan in the fourth round, Kyla Deloso Dalagan of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental in the sixth round and Samantha Babol Umayan of Davao City in the seventh and final round.

"It’s been an uphill battle for me but my nerves somehow held and I was able to make it," said Marticio, a product of the grassroots chess program of Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) president Dr. Fred Paez.

"I am very happy with this victory," added Marticio, whose stint here is being supported by Laguna Gov. Ramil Laurel Hernandez, Laguna 2nd District Rep. Ruth Bayani Mariano-Hernandez and Cabuyao City Mayor Dennis Felipe 'DenHa' Hain.

Thus, Marticio will represent the country in the upcoming 21st ASEAN+ Age Group Chess Championships 2023 to be held on June 17 to 27 in Bangkok, Thailand.-Marlon Bernardino-
