Rilloroza, Ventayen rule San Fabian rapid chess tourney

Istraelito Rilloroza and Mark Noah Ventayen ruled the San Fabian Summer Chess League Rapid Tournament held last April 29, 2023 at Brgy. Sagud-Bahley in San Fabian, Pangasinan.

Rilloroza topped the Open category while Ventayen captured the title in the 14 years old and below kiddies division.

Rilloroza, a varsity woodpusher of the Far Eastern University that is trained by no less than Grandmaster Master (GM) Jayson Gonzales, finished the Open Division with 6.5 points while Apollo Agapay and Emmanuel Lomibao trailed his closely at second and third place with 6.0 points each.

Jabez Antonio Canilang was fourth with 5.5 points followed by Jonathan Bayron, Brylle Vinluan, Jhune Dultra, Edgar Tullao, Gerald Lalas, Sinoden Saripada, Jerome Junig and Elwood Lacap, who all finished with 5.0 points apiece.

Meanwhile, Ventayen ruled the seven-round Swiss system rapid competition with 6.5 points.

Liuyen Wuo settled for second place with 6.0 points.

Vince Mark Gabrillo rounded off the top five with 5.5 points followed by Cleiford Kortchnoi Molinyawe also with 5.5 and Kim Andrea Mamaril.

Rishi Cendana grabbed the sixth place with 5.0 points, the same output of George Wu Jr., John Crisjard Estabillo, Jewel Hannah Aquino, Rian Edora, Gian Miel Erfe Mandagan and Whisky Rosario.
"The inaugural chess tournament of San Fabian Chess Club held last 29 April 2023 at Brgy. Sagud-Bahley, San Fabian, Pangasinan was successful. Not only chess players from Pangasinan but also from Laguna, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, Isabela, Baguio City, and La Union participated in the one-day rapid chess event. Thank you PB Efren R. Fajardo, SK Chairperson Pamela Ada Fajardo, Atty. Prime Sendaydiego, DepEd officials, Brgy. Kagawads, SK Officials, Brgy. Security Force, Ellarma family, and the others who extended assistance." said San Fabian Chess Club president lawyer Reddy Ceralde Balarbar.

"San Fabian Chess Club (SFCC) means Searching For Chess Champions," he added.

"My goal is for the Club to conduct rapid chess tournaments four (4) times a year," last word of lawyer Balarbar.

San Fabian, Pangasinan produced chess athletes champions in the likes of 1991 Philippine Junior Champion Fide Master Arlan Cabe, National Masters Dennis Gutierrez and Gefer Imbuido and the late Solomon Bautista.-Marlon Bernardino-
