1st Masonic District Chess Tournament on April 25

EVERYTHING is set for the staging of 1st Masonic District Chess Tournament on April 25, 2023 at the Function Hall 1, Tangub City, Misamis Occidental.

Open to all chess enthusiasts, regardless of age, according to National Chess Federation of the Philippines board of director Rey Urbiztondo.

"Our Governor (first term) was previously a congressman for 3 terms and Deputy Speaker, Governor Atty. VW Henry Sevilla Oaminal, is a Past District Deputy Grand Master and Hiram Awardee, a mason supporter," explained by Urbiztondo, an Arena Grandmaster.

"In my last term as the incumbent District Deputy Grand Master, he sponsored as our way of supporting him in his sports program, we choose Chess. Being an AGM, HNM and National Director of NCFP. This is the start of the many chess programs for the province. The next plan is the simul and lecture of GM Eugene Torre here in Misamis Occidental," he added.

The three division tournament is sponsored by Governor Atty. VW Henry Sevilla Oaminal. It will feature 12 Under Category, 17 Under Category and Open Category which offers P3,000 each for the champion. 2nd to 5th placers will receive P2,000, P1,000, P750 and P500 while 6th to 10th placers will bring home P200 each. P500 each awaits for the Top Junior and Top Lady.-Marlon Bernardino-
