MANILA---Coming off its second loss, the Philippine women's softball team bounced back, venting its ire on India, 10-0, in the seventh match of the 2023 Women's Softball Asia Cup Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Songdo LNG Stadium in Incheon, South Korea.

The RP Blu Girls were just beaten by China, 6-2, last Tuesday afternoon session. It was the fifth victory by the Blu Girls.

The Blu Girls now have a 5-2 win-loss record.

They also lost to Chinese Taipei 0-5 and won against Hong Kong (7-0) Korea (2-0), Thailand (10-0) and Singapore (8-1).

"The team is so far performing to expectations. The target really is to grab one of those World Cup slots,” said Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asaphil) president Jean Henri Lhuillier.

The Philippines will play its final game in the round robin preliminary phase on Friday morning against top seed Japan.

"So far so good. But I'm still hoping we could improve in our remaining game against powerhouse Japan and hopefully get that elusive World Cup berth,” said Blu Girls head coach Randy Dizer.

The game versus India was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was postponed because of heavy rains along with the day’s other games.

As a consequence of the rained out games, the schedule was moved for a day and the team managers agreed to call off the placement matches.

The top two teams after the end of the elimination round on Friday will vie for the championship on Saturday.

The third and fourth placed teams will also play in the battle for third place on Saturday.

The top three teams that will make the podium will earn slots in the 2024 World Cup.-Marlon Bernardino-
