A Chinese boxer whose mother moved to Japan when he was six years old and whose grandparents lived in Japan has died some fifteen days after undergoing brain surgery following a sixth round TKO at the hands of light welterweight Daichi Sakoda in Tokyo.
Chi Hi dropped Sakoda who has a record of 9-1 with 6 knockouts with a hard right during a fierce exchange in round one and although Hi pressed the attack couldn?t put Sakoda away. In fact Sakoda recovered and threw several combinations to eventually score a TKO at 2:53 in the sixth round of an entertaining bout when Chi Hi "looked helpless" according to well-known journalist and matchmaker/manager Joe Koizumi.
The Chinese boxer whose Japanese name was Mikio Takeuchi had a record of 5-6 with 4 knockouts. He was carried out on a stretcher and rushed to the Jikei Medical Center where he underwent surgery to remove blood clots in his brain.
