Filipino Leon Maratas has been stopped in 1:58 of the fifth round by undefeated and world-rated Australian featherweight Billy Dib in a fight card at the Orion Function Center in Sydney.

The fight was clearly a mismatch between the highly-touted 22 year old Dib nicknamed ?Billy the Kid? who has a record of 19-0 with 10 knockouts and Maratas who beat no fighter of note in piling up a record of 8-3, with 3 knockouts.

Significantly it was the third loss of Maratas since he started fighting in Australia after posting an undefeated 8-0 record with 3 knockouts in the Philippines including a seventh round TKO over Ronald Postrano who had no wins against defeats on July 10, 2007 after earlier beating Roland Econas who had a record of 5 wins and 9 losses.

Dib who is trained by Johnny Lewis, considered a legend in Australia, had struggled a little in his March 22 bout in the US in which he scored a ten-round split decision over Edgar Fabian Vargas (11-3, 1 KO).

However. Lewis was clearly pleased with the workout Dib had against Maratas and was quoted by Sports Nut in Australia as saying ?Billy finished the job in style.?

Meantime former World Boxing Foundation welterweight champion Dondon Sultan has held highly regarded Australian middleweight Ben Crampton to a majority draw in Telerah, north of Sydney.

Sultan was the aggressor from the opening bell but Crampton scored with accurate punches.

One judge had Crampton the winner 58-56 while the two other judges scored the fight even at 57-57. Crampton?s record is 21-1-2 with 10 KO?s while Sultan is 15-11-3 with 7 KO?s.
