Antonella Berthe "Tonelle" Racasa ties for first in Indonesia Chess Tourney

TANGERANG, Indonesia---Woman National Master Antonella Berthe "Tonelle" Racasa continued to reap honors for the country abroad as she finished third in the BKD Fide Rated International Open Chess Tournament Under 21 at the Gunadarma University Karawaci in Tangerang-Indonesia here Sunday.

The 15-year-old Racasa, a student of Victory Christian International School, ended up in a five-player tie for first with 6.0 points.

But after tiebreaks were applied, the Mandaluyong City bet Racasa ended up at 3rd spot in the Group Girls 21 division.
Angkouw Isaura Petra Maria took first, Lasama Ivana Maria Treopolsa wound up second , Carissa Vioren settled for fourth while Nabila Aulia Putri landed at fifth.

Syafiuddin Raden, meantime won the Group Boys 21 division with a superior tie break with fellow 8.0 pointers eventual runner-up and tournament top seed Dziththauly Ramadhan while Stevanky finishes third with 7.5 points.

Racasa’s victories came against Tedisyah Arya Muhammad, Revalina Trianastasya, Davin Belmiro Azfar, Martogi Imanuel and Maulana Ezra Faletehan in the final round. The draws came in games against Kevin Theofilus Andreas and Hanun Nafisah while the loses came against Nathanael Dieudonne B Simanihuruk and Rizky Akbar Muhammad.

Racasa, in all, had five wins, two draws and two losses.

The event is organized BKD Chess Club headed by it's chairman Brig General TNI Amrizar under the auspices of Indonesian Chess Federation.

Tournament director was FM Muhammad Novian Siregar and assisted by chief arbiter IA Bong Bunawan.

WNM Antonella is expected to lead the Philippine chess team in the World School Chess Championships 2023 to be held on April 13-23 in Rhodes, Greece and the World Youth Championships 2023 slated on Nov.12-25 Montesilvano, Italy.-Marlon Bernardino-
