
WNM Racasa ready, confident in the upcoming Fide Rated International Open Chess Tournament in Indonesia

MANILA---Woman National Master Antonelle Berthe "Tonelle" Murillo Racasa expressed readiness and confidence that she will have better results in the upcoming Fide Rated International Open Chess Tournament to be held on January 27 to 29 at the Gunadarma University Karawaci, Tanggerang-Indonesia.
“It’s a prestigious tournament kaya medyo excited ako. I’ll do my best to win and bring honors to our country," said the pride of Mandaluyong City Racasa, whose stint is being supported by ALC Group of Companies Chairman and CEO D. Edgard A. Cabangon, Sir Raffy Garcia of Pasig Rotary Club and Hotel Sogo.
The 15-year-old Racasa, a student of Victory Christian International School is expected to lead the Philippine chess team in the World School Chess Championships 2023 to be held on April 13 to 23 in Rhodes, Greece.
Racasa is also to see action in the World Youth Chess Championships in Montesilvano, Italy on November 12-25.
Fondly called Tonelle in the chess world is looking to follow the foot step of Janelle Mae Frayna, the country's first and lone Woman Grandmaster.
"Target ko po makuha ang WGM title 2 to 3 years from now," she added.
Tonelle, accompanied by his father/coach Roberto M. Racasa, visited Philippine Racing Commission (PHILRACOM) Chairman Aurelio "Reli" De Leon last Monday, Jan. 16 and also paid a courtesy call to Executive Secretary "Tatay" Vic Victoria of Mandaluyong City and to ALC Group of Companies Chairman and CEO D.
