MANILA---After winning the High School Girls Division of the Pasig Alliance of Private School Administrators (PAPRISA) chess championship and the silver medal in the 15 Under Female Batang Pinoy Blitz Category in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur last month, Woman National Master Antonella Berthe "Tonelle" Murillo Racasa is set to compete in the Fide Rated International Open Chess Tournament in Indonesia.

The tournament, open to all players ages 21 years old and below, and is scheduled from January 27 to 29 and will be played at the Gunadarma University Karawaci, Tanggerang-Indonesia according to International Arbiter Bong Bunawan.

The event is organized BKD Chess Club and will be conducted under the auspices of Indonesian Chess Federation.

The 15-year-old Racasa, a student of Victory Christian International School, aims to raise her rating to more than 2000, to put her closer to the coveted Woman Fide Master title.

"I hope to do well in this event (Indonesia) and gain some elo rating points," said Racasa, the pride of Mandaluyong City.
Racasa, whose local and international tournament supported by Hotel Sogo is expected to lead the Philippine chess team in the World School Chess Championships 2023 to be held on April 13 to 23 in Rhodes, Greece.

It shall be recalled that Racasa, 2020 Philippine Sportswriters Association Tony Siddayao awardee, scored several upsets and was among the leaders two rounds before the end until fatigue overtook her, causing Tonelle to fall in the last two rounds during the World Cadet Championship U-12 in Weifang, Shandong, China last Aug. 21–Sept. 1, 2019.-Marlon Bernardino-
