
Australia based Largo rules Iligan chessfest

MANILA--- Australia based Bengt Largo reigned supreme in the Iligan 64 square Open Individual Christmas chess tournament held at the Lai-Lai Garden Pala-O in Iligan City last Saturday, Dec. 17.
A fine victory by Largo over fellow Iliganons Bert Castillo of Iligan City in the last round takes the solo champ with 6.5 out of 7 while Rodney Opada of Cagayan de Oro City and Drigo Teves of Pamplona, Negros Oriental shared second and third with 6.0 points.
In fourth place is another local bet Fide Master Victor Bruce Lluch who had 5.5 points.
Rounding up to the top 11 who had 5.0 points each are Sayf Diamel (fifth), Nazario Ubanan (sixth), Lyndon Lumancas (seventh), Cosain Magarang (eight), Romeo Menoza (ninth), Castillo (tenth) and Clement Valledor (eleventh).-Marlon Bernardino-
